Bruno Nicolai: Genre Maestro
The great Bruno Nicolai composed one of his best scores for the 1970 Jess Franco film, EUGENIE…THE STORY OF HER JOURNEY INTO PERVERSION.
A key cue from that memorable soundtrack is reused in the erotic dance by Erika Blanc, performed for the edification of Antony Steffen (top image) in Emilio P. Miraglia’s softcore giallo THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT IF THE GRAVE (1971), an Italian exploitation title which played local Drive-Ins endlessly in the early 1970s. It worked equally well in both films. Nicolai’s multi layered, multi functional scores graced Euro Westerns, thrillers, Eurospy, Gothic horror, adventures, giallos, Eurocrime and many other genre items for decades. (C) Robert Monell 2015
