BLOOD OF FU MANCHU released in US today.
Thanks to Tony M Clarke for reminding me that Jess Franco’s first Fu Manchu epic starring Christopher Lee as the evil Doctor was theatrically released in the US today September 24, 1969. The fourth in the Christopher Lee-Harry Alan Towers series. It would be followed by Franco’s THE CASTLE OF FU MANCHU aka ASSIGNMENT ISTANBUL, the last in the 1960s series. I actually prefer the shorter reedit, KISS AND KILL, the opening of which was copied by RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK!
I have the vintage KISS AND KILL AMERICAN VIDEO VHS, 1988. Rated PG! The copy on the back cover is a hoot, “The great Christopher Lee explodes in this kung-fu classic! Playing a Japanese mercenary, he’s intent on righting the evils that roam the land. He’s in top form, fighting off his enemies with lots of sizzling high-energy action! As one of the most exciting films of its genre, KISS AND KILL will keep you on the edge of your seat!” Now, that’s marketing!
